Las Vegas, September 11, 2019 - From Imex America in Las Vegas, Edwin Petersen, CEO of OCEANDIVA, presents the plans for the company’s latest event ship. The OCEANDIVA London will be the first carbon neutral event ship in the world and is expected to arrive in London at the end of 2020.
OCEANDIVA on course for carbon neutral events
OCEANDIVA is taking the lead in eco-friendly sailing, helping to build a more sustainable future for the shipping and events sectors. The arrival of the new ship represents a significant step in the right direction, says Edwin Petersen: ‘The new ship will be the first carbon neutral event ship in the world. OCEANDIVA London will be electrically powered and have a circular waste management system. Add to that its modern design and great acoustics and you have the perfect location for any high-end corporate event.’
Having a sustainable impact
With sustainability as an important pillar in its business operations, OCEANDIVA has set itself the goal of being able to provide carbon neutral and fossil-free events for its guests within a few years. In addition to the arrival of the carbon neutral ship, GoodFuels and VARO Energy have been providing advanced biofuels for the rest of the fleet since 1 September. This biofuel is made from 100% certified waste or residual flows and ensures a standard carbon reduction. By sailing on biofuel, less particulate matter and nitrogen particles are emitted into the air, improving air quality. The first steps towards carbon neutral and fossil-free events have thus been taken.
